Overview

Cross-Border Tax Handled by a Registered UAE Tax Consultant

UAE businesses and residents increasingly face tax in more than one country: foreign shareholders, overseas customers, group companies abroad, staff working across borders. Each of these creates questions about where profit is taxed and how to avoid paying twice.

Al Burhan provides international tax services in Dubai: tax residency certificates, double tax treaty analysis and relief claims, permanent establishment assessments, withholding tax reduction, cross-border structuring, transfer pricing and the UAE treatment of foreign income.

The UAE has one of the largest double tax treaty networks in the world. As a registered UAE tax consultant with 45+ years of chartered accountancy experience, we help you actually use it, for fixed fees agreed upfront.

Cross-border positions defended before the UAE by a registered consultant .

— UAE Legal Requirement

When Does International Tax Affect Your Business?

International tax stops being theoretical the moment any of these apply to you:

The Cost of Getting It Wrong

Cross-border mistakes are expensive twice: foreign tax paid unnecessarily, and UAE positions unravelling under review.

Missed treaty relief commonly costs 5 to 15 percent in avoidable withholding tax, and an unmanaged permanent establishment can create years of back taxes abroad.

Al Burhan maps your cross-border position, claims the reliefs you are entitled to and documents the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about international tax for UAE businesses and residents.

What is a tax residency certificate and why do I need one?

A TRC is issued by the UAE and proves UAE tax residency for a specific treaty country and period. It is the document foreign tax authorities require before granting treaty benefits such as reduced withholding tax.

Companies established and managed in the UAE, and individuals who meet the physical presence and residency tests. Requirements differ for companies and individuals, and by treaty. We assess eligibility before applying.

Typically 1 to 2 weeks for approval once documents are complete, plus certificate processing. Incomplete applications are the main cause of delay, which is why preparation matters.

An agreement between two countries deciding which of them taxes each type of income, and at what reduced rates. The UAE has one of the largest treaty networks in the world, covering most major economies.

A taxable presence a company creates in another country through a fixed place of business or dependent agents. Create one unknowingly and that country can tax the related profits, often with penalties and back taxes.

UAE companies are generally taxed on worldwide income, but exemptions can apply for foreign branches and qualifying shareholdings, and foreign tax credits can offset tax paid abroad. The right treatment depends on the facts, which we map for you.

Often, yes. Where a treaty applies, withholding on dividends, interest, royalties and fees can drop substantially, sometimes to zero. It requires the right residency evidence and forms, which we prepare.

The 15% global minimum tax applies to multinational groups with revenue above EUR 750 million. If your group is in scope, the UAE domestic minimum top-up tax may also apply. We assess exposure and plan for it.

Yes. Cross-border dealings between related companies must be priced at arm's length and documented. We prepare the analysis and files that satisfy both the FTA and foreign authorities.

TRC applications and specific relief claims are quoted as fixed fees. Broader structuring and advisory work is scoped and priced upfront. Contact us for an exact quote.
